Carmen de los Mártires is perhaps the most lush and yet criminally overlooked "wild" location in Granada. For a photoshoot here, it's not just the architecture that matters — it's the atmosphere of a "secret garden". This is a free location that works beautifully for a leisurely stroll and shoot after visiting the busier Alhambra complex. The garden is just 7–10 minutes on foot from the famous site.

What makes this garden so special is that it contains a variety of distinct zones, making it absolutely ideal for photoshoots: all in one place you'll find an English garden, a French park with a pond, a Moorish courtyard and a pine avenue. Roses and jasmine bloom here, and in April the wisteria flowers in a truly fairytale fashion. Orange trees grow throughout, and water lilies blossom on the ponds. A small watchtower in the middle of the pond looks like a set from Rapunzel. Peacocks roam the park. And the stately 19th-century mansion is the heart of the entire location.

The greatest asset of this place is the absence of crowds. Unlike the San Nicolás viewpoint, which is always noisy, in Carmen de los Mártires all you can hear is the sound of water in the fountains and birdsong. This lets you relax, forget about passers-by and become fully immersed in the shoot.
